Learning Styles
My students learn the basics or what is essential, but they also have freedom of choice. I take their interests into consideration and use them to tailor aspects of my curriculum to their needs and abilities. After all, an interested student is an engaged student, and an environment where the student has choices is one that is conducive to learning.
I use differentiated instruction, although I believe everyone has the ability to learn, I do recognize different students may not respond to the same learning styles. If some students are more challenged than others, they might not be as successful participating in a traditional physical education class or in traditional sports. This is why I utilize innovative games and activities in which everyone can succeed. I run my classroom in this fashion so that every one of my students is encouraged to reach his or her full potential.
