Philosophy and Beliefs
I have many expectations of educators and I know that I hold myself to the same standards when it is my turn to be in front of the classroom. Educators should be knowledgeable, lifelong learners that strive to keep themselves up to date on their areas of focus, teaching methods, and the latest technology. Educators should be professional at all times, disciplined and strict, but also fair and approachable. It is a difficult balance to achieve, but one that should be worked on at all times. Educators need to be responsible, consistent, and trustworthy. They need to lead by example and model proper behavior for their students and the community around them. Teachers need to motivate, to inspire, and to build a rapport with their students. It is important for educators to teach, they must instill their pupils with the fundamentals, with proper technique and correct information. However, at some point it is also important that they switch gears to a mode more in line with a facilitator. I am a strong believer of the idea that you give a man a fish you feed him for a day, but if you teach him how to fish, you feed him for a lifetime.
